School is out for the summer in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD), but the outstanding educational opportunities for students continues. All throughout the year, the District provides students with an array of enrichment opportunities to expand their educational experience.
On June 25, over 500 Preppy-K through seventh grade students began the District’s five-week Summer Enrichment program at Golden Elementary School in Placentia. From 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, students rotate through four engaging, future-ready classes of their choice lead by top-notch PYLUSD teachers.
In order to further inspire intellectual exploration in students, this year’s program features over 30 unique courses! While many of these courses are centered around themes of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, commonly known as STEAM, many courses also offer students the opportunity to explore more playful topics.
Some of the program’s courses include Code Club, Jammin’ in the Band, The Art of Animation, Ready Set Lego, iPad App Smashing, Games for the Mind, Digital Storytelling, Crazy for Cards, P.E. Classics, Nursery Rhymes, and Gooey Bubbly Frosty Speedy Magical Science just to name a few.
The program’s principals for the summer are Travis Ranch School Assistant Principal, Lisa White, and Esperanza High School Assistant Principal, Scott Mazurier. The principals, along with a team of dedicated teachers, staff members, and District administrators, prepared for months to ensure the program was energetic and innovative in nature for all students.
The Summer Enrichment program is just one example of how students gain the advantage of an outstanding education in PYLUSD.
