Congratulations to the Valencia High School (VHS) AVID Site Team for earning the Teacher Advocacy Award at the AVID Summer Institute in Sacramento June 27-29, 2018!
AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, a nationally recognized nonprofit and college readiness system, presented the Teacher Advocacy Team Award to only five California AVID Site Teams — the Valencia Tigers included. As a part of this honor, VHS received $10,000 to strengthen the program at their school.
That same day, VHS AVID teacher, Brandon Frank, gave an address regarding AVID in front of thousands of fellow educators at the Summer Institute. Nearly one thousand people around the country entered AVID’s speaker contest, while just three finalists, including Mr. Frank, were selected. Great job, Tigers!
