On Friday, September 14, Esperanza High School (EHS) held “Elementary School Night” during their varsity football game versus Sonora High School at Nathan Shapell Memorial Stadium. Leading up to the event, the Aztecs visited their six feeder elementary schools to personally invite the young students to the game.
That evening, Esperanza had over 400 elementary students from Glenview, Glenknoll, Woodsboro, Fairmont, Travis Ranch, and Linda Vista in attendance! Each student received free admission, an Aztecs t-shirt and face painting, as well as field access before the game and during half time.
To further the fun, the Aztecs also held a friendly football throwing contest for the young students, with a winner selected from each grade level. Following the playoff round of the contest at half time, the winners received a signed football from the varsity team.
Many programs on Esperanza’s campus joined together to make this evening possible including ASB, Air Force JROTC, Medical Sciences, PTSA, and of course, football.
It was a great community event which showcased the school’s AZTEC PRIDE!
