On February 28, 2019, Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) hosted over fifty representatives from school districts and offices of education from Los Angeles and Orange counties. The purpose of the showcase was to observe the K-12 college and career pathway backward mapping from Esperanza High School, then Bernardo Yorba Middle School, and finishing the day at Fairmont Elementary School.
The day began at the District Office, where Superintendent, Dr. Greg Plutko, and Deputy Superintendent, Candy Plahy, welcomed the visitors. The morning meeting was followed by presentations of the Medical Sciences and Aztec Engineering/Manufacturing Academies as culminating programs for students who experience the STEM Labs at both Bernardo Yorba and Fairmont.
“Feedback was extremely positive,” shared Director of K-12 Innovation and Technology, Cary Johnson.
