Chloe Ballenger-Apolo is no stranger to helping others. When she asked her mom how she could help other Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) students in need this year, both mom and daughter agreed to hold a drive at their home school of Glenview Elementary School. The goal was to collect gently worn jackets for those students in need at Melrose Elementary School.
Both Chloe and her brother, Carson, attend Glenview’s Dual Language Academy and their mother, Cathy, is a parent volunteer. Chloe and her mom packed up the collected jackets and made their way to Melrose Elementary’s Second Harvest food distribution where they were met by Jon Matson, the District’s Homeless Liaison.
“We are so happy to have Chloe, Cathy, and Carson here to help us help those in need. It’s so special to see Chloe coming up with her own ideas to help others,” said Matson. “She told me that her next project would be to collect blankets for our program!”
Families at the distribution were very excited to receive a jacket for one of their students, and everyone was thrilled to have Chloe there to present them.
