On Saturday, August 24, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) hosted a luncheon orientation for 19 new international students and their host families at the Professional Development Academy in Yorba Linda.
For the 2019-2020 school year, all PYLUSD international students will be attending either Valencia High School or Yorba Linda High School on international student visas. These students traveled far and wide from places such as China, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland to receive an education in PYLUSD.
At the luncheon, Teacher on Special Assignment, Jason Pike, explained details about PYLUSD including the history, as well as the District’s mission and vision for all students. Information about Valencia and Yorba Linda high schools was also shared. The meeting afforded the incoming international students valuable time to have their questions answered regarding school in America and PYLUSD specifically.
In the end, all the students were excited to receive a “swag bag” from their new high school complete with a string backpack, t-shirt, lanyard, key chain, and decals. Welcome to PYLUSD, students!
So excited for our International Students! Jason is the BEST!
