On Saturday, October 12, the El Dorado Golden Hawks marching band and color guard competed at the Valencia Classic Field Tournament. They performed their show “Hearts of Stone” to a packed crowd and were named Tournament Champions. The Golden Hawks earned the highest score of the day and made a clean sweep of all caption awards including High Music Performance, High Music Effect, High Visual Performance, High Visual Effect, Percussion Sweepstakes, and Color Guard Sweepstakes.
“Thank you to the Valencia Tiger Regiment and Instrumental Parents for hosting a great event,” Director of Instrumental Music, Eric Samson, said.
El Dorado’s band program is under the direction of Eric Samson and Tim Vrooman. Both directors are extremely proud of the work that the students, band staff, and volunteer parents have put in this year to make this accomplishment possible.
The Golden Hawks will continue to compete in Field Tournaments throughout Southern California over the next few weeks and will end the season at Band Championships on November 23. You can catch the El Dorado marching band, as well as all of the PYLUSD middle and high school bands, at the annual Band Pageant on November 6 at Bradford Stadium.
