At the end of February, Valencia High School hosted a celebration BBQ for 282 of their AVID students who have maintained a 3.00 GPA or higher. The 282 students make up over 75% of the Tigers’ AVID student population. Specifically, 34% of AVID students earned a 3.0-3.49 GPA, 28% of AVID students earned a 3.5-3.99 GPA, and 13% of AVID students earned a 4.0 or higher GPA.
“I applaud our AVID team, Corinna Harnett, Rosina Talamantes, Rouc Le, Gerardo Rodriquez, Leina Rizzo, Chris Henry, Calen Rau and AVID counselor Liz Nasouf for their hard work,” Assistant Principal Paige Stills mentioned. “I additionally want to recognize our staff for their implementation of WICOR schoolwide to support all students in college and career readiness.”
AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a nationwide non-profit organization devoted to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
