The Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary Club has been a valued community partner of George Key School since the mid-1980’s. Most years, the organization hosts an annual holiday party for the students at George Key School. This much anticipated event includes a visit from Santa, gifts for students, and a catered lunch.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was cancelled, but the support and partnership from the club remained strong. In December the Rotarians donated soft throw blankets for each student.
In addition, on Friday, March 19, Rotary President, Cindy Freeman, and Rotarian, Char Knapp, generously presented a check to George Key School for $1,000 dollars. The staff at George Key would like to use this money to expand their switch library. The switches in this library allow students to have meaningful communication with staff and peers, as well as participate in activities such as gardening and playing musical instruments.
Over the years, the Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary has sponsored several important projects including plants and materials for their sensory garden, equipment for our sensory room, and updated technology for their computer lab.
“We value our long standing partnership with the organization, and appreciate the support they have provided throughout the years, Principal Kelli McFedries shared. “Thank you, YL Sunrise Rotary!”
