Congratulations are in order for Tynes Elementary School 6th-grader, Rachel Park, for earning second place at the Orange County Spelling Bee! The competition took place at the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) on March 5 and featured 26 talented spellers in grades six, seven, and eight.
Earlier in the week, 94 spellers who won their school or district spelling bees from across the county gathered at OCDE to take a 25-question written test on spelling and vocabulary. The top 26 spellers, including Rachel, were then invited to participate in the final oral round.
Rachel received a trophy and cash award for her efforts. PYLUSD is so P-R-O-U-D of her! To read more about the OC Spelling Bee, follow the link below courtesy of OCDE.
