Glenknoll Elementary celebrates reading and Dr. Seuss

Student and staff spirit soared high when Glenknoll Elementary School celebrated reading from February 28 to March 4, 2022. Also known as “Read Across America Week,” fun activities were planned in order to get children excited about reading.

Guided by advisors Danielle Miller, Jessica Leonard, and Amy Huhn, the school’s Leadership and PAL student groups read The Cat in the Hat to transitional kindergarten through 4th-grade classes. Then, as a follow-up activity, the students guided the classes through an art and writing project entitled “If Thing 1 and Thing 2 came to our school…”  The stories were funny and creative, and it seemed as though ALL students enjoyed the project!

In addition, each day was a designated dress-up day, themed to a Dr. Seuss book. Friday was Sleep Book day and, as you would expect, pajamas were donned schoolwide. The event culminated with 5th and 6th-grade classes pairing up with 3rd-grade classes to read stories together. What a fun, successful week!
