Tigers Closet offers students the opportunity to thrift shop at Valencia High School

Valencia High School’s one-and-only free thrift store, Tiger’s Closet, opened last week, giving away over 700 items of clothes, shoes, and accessories to students. Tiger’s Closet was started in 2018 by the Valencia Service Committee Club, whose focus is to volunteer and give back to the community.

After noticing all the clothes and shoes they had piled up in their closets at home, the club decided to hold a clothing drive, collecting even more clothes, shoes, and accessories from their peers. Instead of donating it to a thrift or consignment store, they thought it would be a great idea to open a store just for the VHS student community.

Tiger’s Closet was met with great enthusiasm and excitement as many students signed up to help sort clothes and hundreds of students. Two hundred and sixty-five participated in the event and picked out something for themselves or a family member. This is the second opening this year and the school hopes to continue to grow the program.

“If you have any new or gently used clothes you would like to donate please drop them off at the Valencia High School office and let them know it’s for Tiger’s Closet,” Assistant Principal Paige Still shared.
