George Key School celebrates its Class of 2023

George Key graduation ceremony 2023.

On Tuesday, June 13, George Key School held a commencement ceremony for their Class of 2023 graduates—Nicole El-Khoury, Arjun Gill, and Patrick Schulte—in the multipurpose room at Golden Elementary School.

Fellow students, loved ones, and staff members gathered to celebrate the three young students. To kick off the ceremony, student Dominick DiThommaso led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. Principal Rebecca Allan then introduced dignitaries in attendance and spoke about the unique mark each student will leave following their educational journeys at George Key. The small ceremony included a long list of honored guests including Board of Education Trustees Carrie Buck and Marilyn Anderson, Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Linda Adamson, and a long list of administrators.

Guest speaker Renee Gray, the district’s Executive Director of Special Education/SELPA, also shared thoughtful words of encouragement to each student. “Throughout Nicole, Patrick, and Arjun’s time with us, they have not only acquired knowledge but also developed essential life skills,” Gray shared. “They have each grown at their own rate to reach a personalized level of independence, self-advocacy, and social-emotional well-being. Most importantly, they have found their own voice which will carry them well past their time with Key.”

Teachers Kelly Lytal and Michele Cardenas spoke about each of their students and showed a video presentation filled with pictures of Nicole, Arjun, and Patrick throughout the years. They were then presented with their certificates of completion. Attendees then enjoyed a reception in honor of the three graduates.

Congrats, George Key graduates!
