Rose Drive Elementary School kindness performance shines brightly

Rose drive students.

On Monday, June 5, Rose Drive performed its first annual Big Buddy Little Buddy Presentation for friends and families. Students sang “Try a Little Kindness” by Glen Campbell”, “Work Hard and Be Nice” by Michael Franti, “Have you Filled a Bucket Today?” to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and “Be a Good Friend” to the tune of Oh Suzannah reminding those in attendance that kindness is what makes strong communities whether they are small like a classroom or big like a country.

Students also performed a Reader’s Theater rendition of the book Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol Mc Cloud teaching us that we should always be careful to fill people’s “buckets” with kindness each day. Fourth-grade read an Acrostic Poem on courage, humility, and kindness while  First-graders performed an “I am Enough” Reader’s Theater.

“The program was heartfelt and shows the dedication Rose Drive commits to making sure each student is noticed, needed, and nurtured,” Principal Kathleen Escaleras-Nappi shared. “Our Kindness Squad on campus, composed of upper-grade students, also encourages leadership and communication skills. They’ve helped students spread kindness all around campus and to our community by recycling, fundraising for community projects such as His House and more. We believe in a culture that encourages others to repeat good deeds they’ve experienced which therein contributes to a more positive and caring community.”

Way to go, Roadrunners!
