Parkview School celebrates its Class of 2023 and promoting 8th graders

Parkview School Graduation 2023

Parkview School held its 2023 graduation and promotion on Monday, June 12, at the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Performing Arts Center. The school awarded 26 students their high school diploma and promoted five eighth-grade students.

To begin the ceremony, Principal Dominique Polchow welcomed those in attendance including Parkview students, staff, families, and distinguished guests including Board President Shawn Youngblood, Clerk Todd Frazier, Trustee Carrie Buck, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Linda Adamson, and Director of Elementary Education Dr. Liz Leon. A salute to the flag was presented by students Ben Reichenthal,
Josh Reichenthal, and Brooklyn Frey before the national anthem.

Principal Polchow then addressed the crowd, reminding attendees about the unique opportunities Parkview School affords students. “As a Parkview graduate, you are ready to pursue your dreams as you have that pioneering spirit, ready to blaze your own trail,” she shared.

Parkview’s eighth-graders were recognized first with various awards, scholarships, and then their promotion certificates. Student Joshua Reichenthal spoke to his fellow promoting eighth-graders and the crowd, sharing an inspirational aviation-themed speech.

To kick off the graduation portion of the event, Parkview Salutatorian Kayla Kim and Valedictorian Tyler Kim delivered separate addresses in front of an energetic crowd of fellow graduates, loved ones, and staff members.

Before receiving their diplomas, Parkview students were awarded various scholarships including the Presidential Awards, Seal of Biliteracy, the Alice Hetland Scholarship, and the PLUM Scholarship.

Board Clerk Frazier then accepted the Parkview Class of 2023 as having met all the necessary requirements in order to earn their high school diplomas. Notably, of those graduating students, 98% will be moving on to attend a college or university following high school and one will serve the country in the military.

Parkview School is the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s K-12 home school program designed for students who desire an alternative to traditional classroom instruction. Instructional strategies may include independent study, online learning, concurrent classes, and workshops.

Congrats, Panthers!
