Recently, the 4th graders from Bryant Ranch School visited the Chino Hills State Park Discovery Center. This was a great introduction to life science where students learned about local wildlife and plants that grow in the community. The students rotated through three stations during the day. They planted native California poppies which they were able to take home, studied animal prints, and learned how to care for the animals that live in the hills in our area. They also identified local plants.
In the picture shown above, students had to construct a cube out of PVC pipe, and then the cube was placed by the guide in the middle of certain plants. Students had to use a guidebook and magnifying glasses to identify their native plants. The students were invested in their learning and had a great time exploring more about our local wildlife and the landscapes right in our backyard.
Way to go, Explorers!
