On November 1, 2023, Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Issaic Gates were inducted into the Placentia Rotary Club. Club President Turgut “TC” Cakiraga, Past President Alice Shiozawa, Club Foundation President Kevin Padilla, and other leaders were among those who led the ceremony for Dr. Cherniss and Dr. Gates. They received official pins and learned about the pillars of serving as Rotarians.
Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. The Placentia Rotary Club is one chapter of the organization with nearly 30 local members who come together to volunteer to support the city through service projects and other initiatives. They pride themselves on giving back to the community, fostering opportunities for personal growth and networking amongst members, and fun and friendship.
Over the years, the Placentia Rotary Club has been a steadfast supporter of PYLUSD by providing college scholarships, gifting school supplies, and organizing youth chapters on high school campuses, just to name a few examples.
