On Friday, December 1, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) held its second Middle School Athletics event of the school year with a districtwide Cross Country Meet at Veterans Park next to Yorba Linda Middle School. Teams from all six middle schools raced around a set route.

The event was hosted and supported by the Valencia High School Cross Country team. Hundreds of sixth, seventh, and eighth-graders took part in the competition. There were four total races for 6th/7th-grade boys, 6th/7th grade girls, 8th grade boys, and 8th grade girls. Medals were presented to the top runners in each category and championship plaques were given to the winning teams. The following teams won their respective race:

  • 7th Grade Boys: Yorba Linda Middle School
  • 7th Grade Girls: Yorba Linda Middle School
  • 8th Grade Boys: Travis Ranch School
  • 8th Grade Girls: Tuffree Middle School

“The cross country meet proved to be yet another remarkable gathering of middle school athletes, where the hard work and sportsmanship of our students took center stage,” Middle School Athletics Coordinator and Tuffree Assistant Principal Sarah Barton shared. “Join us at our next district-wide middle school sports event, which is a basketball tournament taking place at El Dorado on February 27, 2024.”
