Santiago Canyon College’s Community Science Night Transforms Campus into Galactic Playground for PYLUSD Families and Beyond

On Friday, April 19, 2024, Santiago Canyon College (SCC) once again opened its doors to the community for a journey into the realms of science and imagination during its highly anticipated Community Science Night. This year’s event, themed around the beloved Star Wars franchise, saw an unprecedented level of engagement and excitement, thanks to the collaborative efforts of SCC, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD), and other community partners.

The synergy between educational institutions was palpable as PYLUSD joined forces with SCC to create an unforgettable experience for attendees. From young students to seasoned science enthusiasts, over 500 individuals comprising families, educators, and students flocked to the event, eager to explore the wonders of science through a lens of intergalactic adventure.

One of the standout features of the evening was the array of more than 50 hands-on science activities scattered throughout the SCC campus. From interactive experiments exploring the laws of physics to immersive demonstrations delving into the mysteries of chemistry and biology, there was something to captivate every attendee, regardless of age or scientific background. Participants had the opportunity to engage their minds and senses, fostering a deeper appreciation for the world around them while simultaneously igniting their curiosity for the unknown.

No Star Wars-themed affair would be complete without the iconic characters that have captured the hearts of generations. Attendees were delighted to encounter their favorite heroes and villains from a galaxy far, far away, adding an extra dimension of excitement and wonder to the evening’s festivities.
