Buena Vista Virtual Academy Celebrates its Class of 2024

Buena Vista Virtual Academy Class of 2024

Buena Vista Virtual Academy (BVVA) held its 4th annual graduation ceremony on Tuesday, June 11 at the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Performing Arts Center. In total, the school awarded 57 students their high school diplomas including 17 seniors and 12 juniors as early graduates.

To begin the ceremony, Principal Jamie Jauch welcomed those in attendance including BVVA students, staff, families, and distinguished guests such as Board of Education Clerk Shawn Youngblood and Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Assistant Superintendent, Renee Gray, Executive Director of Human Resources, Nancy Blade, and Director of Elementary Education, Dr. Liz Leon.

Principal Jauch took time to share words of encouragement with the school’s graduating seniors. “My sincerest wish for each of you is that this end marks the beginning of a wonderful journey. While life is always filled with ups and downs, I hope you learn a lot and grow from both.  I wish you more good days than bad and more joy than sorrow. Always remember when things feel overwhelmingly challenging, that it has to get better.”

BVVA students Mykael Gevigier, Gladys Flores, and Sara Chupinsky then delivered student addresses in front of the energetic crowd of supporters. Clerk Youngblood then accepted the Class of 2024 as having met all the necessary requirements in order to earn their high school diplomas.

Notably, Buena Vista’s Class of 2024 includes one student who earned the State Seal of Biliteracy in Arabic and two who received the State Seal of Civic Engagement. Over 80% are headed to two or four-year colleges following graduation and one student has committed to join a branch of the military.

Buena Vista Virtual Academy is an online school that offers free 100% online and hybrid programs for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. BVVA is a supported independent study school perfect for students who want to learn on their own in a nurturing environment.

Congrats, BVVA Wolves!
