El Camino Real Celebrates the Class of 2024

On Tuesday, June 11, El Camino Real High School (ECRHS) held its 2024 commencement ceremony at Bradford Stadium, located at Valencia High School. The event marked the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year, celebrating the achievements of 90 graduating students as they received their high school diplomas.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Board of Education Trustees Marilyn Anderson and Carrie Buck, Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss, Executive Director of Secondary Education Dr. William Gray, and Principal Scott Mazurier.

Among the highlights of the ceremony were speeches from students Omar Bautista and Consuelo Alfaro Luna. Their addresses focused on themes of gratitude and appreciation for the unique qualities of El Camino Real as a continuation high school. They praised the dedication of the Raptors’ faculty and staff, whose unwavering support was instrumental in guiding the students to this pivotal moment. Pia Fiore, the mother of graduate Ava Fiore, also spoke, reinforcing the heartfelt appreciation for the school’s commitment to its students.

Principal Scott Mazurier addressed the graduates with a powerful message of perseverance and pride. He remarked, “You have overcome obstacles, juggled responsibilities, and demonstrated unwavering determination to reach this day. Your journey has not been easy, but you have risen above the challenges, and you should be incredibly proud of yourselves.”

The Class of 2024 showcased a range of impressive accomplishments. This year’s graduates included two students who completed their studies as juniors, 65 early graduates, and 20 students who returned to their home schools on track to graduate. Additionally, three students graduated with a diploma through the new Advance program, three achieved the State Seal of Civic Engagement—a first for ECRHS, eight students participated in the inaugural cohort of dual enrollment, and nine students completed Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

The 2024 commencement ceremony highlighted the strength and resilience of El Camino Real High School’s students, as well as the unwavering support from the faculty, staff, and community. The achievements of the graduates stand as a testament to the school’s commitment to providing a nurturing and empowering educational environment.
