Two Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Students Recognized as YoungArts Winners with Distinction

Two junior high school students from the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) have been recognized as Winners with Distinction by the prestigious National YoungArts program. Selected from a highly competitive pool of over 800 applicants nationwide, these students demonstrated exceptional artistic talent in disciplines such as music, writing, and visual arts.

The YoungArts program, a national initiative dedicated to identifying and nurturing young artists, awarded this honor to approximately 40 students from Orange County for the 2025 cycle. Of these recipients, 12 were granted special recognition across 10 artistic categories, including dance, photography, design, and film. A comprehensive list of awardees is available on the National YoungArts website.

Students designated as Winners with Distinction are eligible for consideration as U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts—one of the highest academic and artistic honors conferred upon high school seniors by the President of the United States. Finalists for this esteemed recognition will be announced in early May.

The selection process for the YoungArts awards is rigorous and conducted by expert panels of distinguished artists in each respective discipline. Recipients undergo an extensive evaluation of their technical skill, artistic development, and creative vision. Those honored as Winners with Distinction receive a monetary award of $250 in recognition of their outstanding commitment to artistic excellence.
