Kraemer’s Samuel Littrell wins OC Spelling Bee, Golden students perform well

Samuel Littrell stands with his sixth-grade teacher, Kristi Cooan from Golden Elementary School, who coached him to his win back in 2014.

For the second time in three years, Samuel Littrell from Kraemer Middle School is the Orange County Spelling Bee champ! Samuel, who also won at the county level in 2014, bested 43 other top spellers in grades six, seven and eight in the annual contest sponsored by the Orange County Register at the Orange County Department of Education’s main campus on Saturday, Feb. 26.

Golden shines at Spelling Bee
It was also a great day for Golden Elementary School at the annual Orange County Spelling Bee. Sixth grader Natalie Williams battled 11 rounds to win third place overall among sixth through eighth graders in Orange County. After correctly spelling words like “zillionaire” and “pfeffernusse,” she was out-spelled by Golden alumnus and current Kraemer student Samuel Littrell. Both Natalie and Samuel are coached by sixth grade gifted and talented education (GATE) teacher Mrs. Kristi Cooan.
