Kraemer Middle School’s Science Olympiad team secured fifth place overall at the prestigious Orange County Regional Competition. Demonstrating exceptional knowledge, skill, and teamwork across a diverse range of scientific disciplines, the team earned an impressive 13 medals across 26 events—marking the highest number of medals awarded to the school this season.
Science Olympiad tournaments operate like academic track meets, with students competing in 23 STEM-focused events covering topics such as anatomy and physiology, engineering design, coding and experimental sciences. The program welcomes participants from public, charter and private schools, along with homeschool communities.
With the competition advancing to the next level, Kraemer Middle School now faces the rigorous task of selecting its top-performing students for the upcoming state tournament. Out of 27 dedicated participants divided between two teams, approximately 18 students will be chosen to represent the school at the highly competitive California Science Olympiad State Tournament. This elite team will compete at the renowned California Institute of Technology (Caltech) on April 12, where only six middle schools and six high schools from Orange County will participate.
This outstanding achievement is a testament to the students’ dedication, perseverance, and passion for science, as well as the unwavering support and guidance of their coaches and mentors. Way to go, Cubs!
