Rio Vista Elementary School Students Shine in Production of Finding Nemo Jr. at Valencia High School Auditorium

On April 26, students from Rio Vista Elementary School delivered an exceptional performance of Finding Nemo Jr., captivating two large audiences at the Valencia High School auditorium. With a remarkable display of confidence, energy, emotional depth, and comedic timing, the young performers brought the beloved story to life, earning enthusiastic praise from all in attendance.

The success of the production was made possible through the dedicated efforts of many individuals. Special recognition is extended to Leonel Diaz, who devoted several months to preparing the students for the stage. His commitment included numerous after-school rehearsals and weekend sessions to ensure the cast was performance-ready. Additionally, the production benefited greatly from the contributions of parent volunteers, who generously gave their time and talents to assist with costume creation, set construction, makeup, and various other essential tasks.

The school community was also grateful for the presence of both current and former Rio Vista staff members, including Board President Marilyn Anderson and Linda Manion, who attended one of the Saturday performances. Their support was deeply appreciated by students, who were thrilled to see familiar faces in the audience.

Participating in a production of this magnitude offered students a wide range of educational benefits. Beyond developing theatrical skills, students experienced firsthand the value of perseverance, teamwork, and adaptability. They discovered that through dedication and practice, they could achieve extraordinary results—embodying the show’s core message to “just keep swimming.”
