PYLUSD Collaborates with Santiago Canyon College to Host an Engaging Community Science Night

On Friday, April 25, 2025, Santiago Canyon College (SCC) hosted a highly successful Community Science Night, drawing over 2,000 attendees for an evening of engaging scientific exploration and community celebration. The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) was proud to collaborate with the Orange Unified School District (OUSD) and SCC for this dynamic event, which embraced a Star Wars theme to spark curiosity and excitement among participants of all ages.

The evening featured more than 50 hands-on science activities, including interactive stations such as Bungee Jumping Barbies, Squid Dissections, The Science of Sound, and Phases of the Moon. Guests were also treated to live entertainment and special appearances by Star Wars characters, which contributed to the festive and imaginative atmosphere.

PYLUSD extends sincere appreciation to the dedicated instructors and student volunteers whose efforts were instrumental in creating a memorable and educational experience for the community. Special recognition is also given to the students of the Orange County School of Computer Science and Travis Ranch Middle School for their outstanding performances, which added an extra element of excitement to an already stellar event.
