PYLUSD Students Continue to Excel in Advanced Placement (AP) Achievement

The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) is proud to celebrate another year of outstanding student achievement on the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) exams. For the 2024–2025 school year, 1,098 PYLUSD students earned AP Scholar recognition, marking the district’s highest total in five years.

These prestigious awards recognize high school students who demonstrate exceptional college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP exams. The average AP Scholar score across the district was an impressive 4.02, reflecting both the rigor of PYLUSD’s academic programs and the dedication of its students and teachers.

Over the past five years, PYLUSD’s AP recognition numbers have steadily grown:

Students across all PYLUSD high schools were recognized in categories such as AP Scholar, AP Scholar with Honor, AP Scholar with Distinction, AP Capstone Diploma, and AP Seminar and Research Certificate.

“Each year, more of our students are challenging themselves with rigorous, college-level coursework and demonstrating tremendous success,” said Michael Young, Director of Secondary Education. “We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and the teachers and staff who guide and inspire them.”

The College Board’s AP Program offers high school students the opportunity to earn college credit and demonstrate mastery in subjects ranging from English and mathematics to sciences, world languages, and the arts. PYLUSD’s consistent growth in AP participation and performance underscores the district’s commitment to academic excellence and college readiness for all students.
