Rose Drive Elementary School fifth graders stepped back in time this week to experience firsthand some of the memorable events and characters in America’s history by participating in an interactive assembly, “Walk Through the American Revolution.” Dressed for the occasion, students impersonated important historical figures, including Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Mary Draper. Students demonstrated their expertise through the memorization of key facts and vocabulary while partaking in a lively retelling of our country’s journey to independence. The inclusion of friendly competition made things even more interesting as students competed against one another for points, which were awarded for participation, enthusiasm and teamwork. This was a fun, interactive and highly valuable educational experience that the students seemed to love!
