Valencia High School Dance Team Earns Two National Titles in Historic DTU Championship Debut

The Valencia High School Dance Team achieved a historic milestone during its first appearance at the Dance Team Union National Championship in Florida, earning two national titles while competing among some of the most accomplished dance programs in the nation.

Facing hundreds of elite routines from across the United States, Valencia’s performers demonstrated exceptional technical skill, artistry, and competitive excellence throughout the national competition.

Varsity Achievements

Four soloists—Elizabeth Ling (freshman), Lauren Varela (sophomore), Jonah Valtairo (junior), and Megan Park (senior)—advanced to the Finals round from a field of more than 300 solo competitors.

Additional varsity results included:

  • Trio/Officer Division — National Champions (1st Place)
  • Small Contemporary — National Champions (1st Place)
  • Medium Contemporary — National Runner-Up (2nd Place out of 8)
  • Small Pom — 4th Place (out of more than 30 entries)
  • Large Jazz — 5th Place (out of 10)
  • Medium Jazz — 5th Place (out of 35)

The team’s Small Contemporary routine not only secured the National Championship title but also earned the Battle Championship, a distinction awarded after a competitive elimination round featuring routines from more than 150 schools, with only 17 advancing to the final battle round.

Junior Varsity Results

The junior varsity team also demonstrated strong competitive performances:

  • JV Jazz — 7th Place
  • JV Pom — 11th Place

Valencia’s success at the national level represents a significant accomplishment for the program. In its inaugural appearance at the Dance Team Union National Championship, the team exceeded expectations and established itself as a rising competitor on the national dance stage.
