On Monday, March 14, four PYLUSD student-athletes were honored by the Orange County Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame at their 46th annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet. The foundation selected 80 student-athletes from Orange County, and just 15 received a $1,000 scholarship to help with college. These 15 recipients were first team all-league, and had an overall GPA above 3.5.
El Dorado High School
Bryson Smith (pictured above) was honored by the foundation with a $1,000 scholarship. Bryson has an overall GPA of 3.68, and is currently taking two AP classes as a senior. He already passed two AP classes as a junior, and one AP class as a sophomore. Additionally, he was selected first team all-North Hills League, he was voted team captain and he was the 2016 EDHS “Offensive Player of the Year.” Congrats Bryson!
Valencia High School
Both student-athletes Mason Paine and Alec Sweet were honored by the foundation. VHS football coach Mike Marrujo was also recognized as a Coach of the Year.
Yorba Linda High School
Victor Thompson was honored by the foundation with a $1,000 scholarship. Victor has an overall GPA of 3.81, is taking two AP classes, was selected first team all-Crestview League and was a team captain for YLHS football. Congrats Victor!
