Fairmont Elementary School gifted and talented education (GATE) students participated in a nine-week technology academy in which they used “Scratch” programming to code and create their own game. Then, Fairmont held a GATE orientation night, and the students showcased the games they created. Thanks to parent Mr. Lee who introduced and taught the students “Scratch.” The academy was led by Fairmont lead GATE teacher, Mrs. Pat Shea.
Recently, Fairmont students wrote creative stories, and actors from Imagination Machine performed them in grade-level assemblies. It was exciting and engaging to see the students’ stories come to life.
This past week, students donated $1 or more to Fairmont’s annual March Madness Shawn Knutson Scholarship Drive. This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating Fairmont student. Fairmont students are also currently donating canned food items to support the district pantry.
