Esperanza Swimmer Sets School Record, Advances to CIF State Championships

Esperanza High School student-athlete Madeleine Hurley of the Lady Aztecs swim team delivered an exceptional postseason performance, earning two Freeway League Championship titles with first-place finishes in both the 100-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Backstroke.

Hurley continued her success at the CIF Southern Section Swimming Championships, placing sixth in the 100-yard Freestyle and fifth in the 100-yard Backstroke. Her time of 56.60 seconds in the 100-yard Backstroke established a new Esperanza High School record, surpassing the previous mark set in 2022.

With this achievement, Hurley’s performance ranks among the top 40 times in California. She has qualified to compete at the CIF California State Swimming and Diving Championships, held May 15–16 at the Clovis Olympic Swim Complex in Fresno, where she is scheduled to compete in both the 100-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Backstroke events.

Hurley’s accomplishments reflect her dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence, while continuing to represent Esperanza High School with distinction in one of California’s most competitive athletic arenas.
