Breast Cancer Awareness Week at Esperanza High School

Esperanza’s Medical Science Academy, in partnership with HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), has continued to exceed expectations and raise community awareness unlike any other! From October 25 to 29, each day was filled with inclusive activities and dress-up days that initiated interest and emphasis on the topic of breast cancer. Furthermore, it provided an opportunity for students and faculty to acknowledge people they personally knew that had endured or are enduring breast cancer.

The activities included bracelet making, temporary tattoos, candy jar guessing, a pink napkin sale, a water balloon toss, and a Halloween dress-up day with the slogan “We Scare Cancer.” Students were also encouraged to dress up for every day of the week with various themes, once again with the intent of spreading awareness throughout our community.

These inclusive service-learning projects and opportunities are a gateway to shedding light on the significance of being well educated on a variety of pressing topics. The school’s community continues to grow and flourish as they join together through a collective effort in recognizing important causes (such as Breast Cancer Awareness). They are thankful to all of the participants who did their part in making all the activities come to life.

Seeing the immense support curated by Breast Cancer Awareness Week, the school anticipates plenty of more successful community projects from Esperanza’s Medical Sciences Academy, as well as from Esperanza High School as a whole!
