Valencia High School SERVE (Social Emotional Recreation Vocation Education) teacher Diego Sologuren was recognized by the California School Education Association (CSEA) for his outstanding service to the school community.
The CSEA State Awards Committee honored Diego for his work with students, and his positive impact on PYLUSD. Diego led a team of students to build “Buddy Benches” for several local elementary schools, including Melrose, Rio Vista, Ruby Drive and Van Buren. Students that see one of their peers sitting on these benches can invite them to play with them during lunch or recess. The goal is to reach out to lonely students and foster friendships.
