Golden students recognize Native American Day with STEM activity

On Friday, Sept. 25, Golden Elementary School students in Mrs. Laurel Ayer’s fourth grade class designed shelters to withstand environmental conditions endured by Native Americans in California. Materials in the construction were restricted to represent limited resources of a particular region. Trading and bartering among cooperative “tribal” groups increased the range of structures students could build. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
