On Wednesday, Sept. 14, Topaz Elementary School hosted the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Each month, this group brings fresh fruit and vegetables to the families in the nearby Garnet community in Fullerton. This week, families were provided with watermelons, potatoes, peaches, onions, apples and oranges. The Second Harvest Food Bank is a nonprofit that brings nourishment and hope to hungry people throughout Orange County. This week, Topaz families were also able to receive a free flu shot thanks to the participation of Walgreens. Topaz staff and families are grateful to PYLUSD’s McKinney-Vento liaison Jon Matson for arranging this event each month.
