District music teachers learn how to utilize SmartMusic program for students

On Wednesday, Sept. 28, instrumental music teachers from schools throughout PYLUSD joined the MakeMusic team in a two-hour webinar to learn effective uses of the SmartMusic program.

SmartMusic is software used by music educators around the world to enhance their programs. It provides a way to dramatically improve students’ skills. Student practice is focused because they receive immediate feedback while listening to their performance and seeing the correct and incorrect rhythms and pitches onscreen. It also allows teachers to give individual instruction so students can get better faster. Students are able to hear their part in context with SmartMusic’s professional background accompaniment, giving them a pitch and rhythmic reference when practicing at home.

The teachers worked with the software at their stations, while a presenter walked through the many features of the software.
