Valencia teachers honored by former students

Valencia High School English language arts teacher Courtney Fenstermaker received a Stanford Teacher Tribute award. This accolade recognizes the unique contributions of one educator in the educational or personal growth of incoming Stanford University students. Stanford freshman and VHS alumna Clarissa Aguirre nominated Mrs. Fenstermaker for the award.

Additionally, VHS English language arts teacher Tara Filowitz received a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction award from the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). NSHSS offers student members the opportunity to nominate the educator who made the most significant contribution to their academic career. The Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction honor recognizes teacher role models who have made a lasting difference in their classroom by encouraging students to strive for excellence. VHS alumnus Alex Duong nominated Mrs. Filowitz for this recognition.

Congrats Valencia educators!
