Practicing both compassion and kindness over winter break, Rose Drive Elementary School students and their families filled two giant bins with new, unwrapped toys to be donated to children in need. Firefighters from the Brea Fire Services Department stopped by on the last day to collect the toys, thanking students with hats, stickers and pencils for making the holidays a little brighter for those in need.
Additionally, Rose Drive enjoyed several PTA-sponsored family events, including pajama night to promote a book fair, and popular movie night.
December featured the annual kindergarten holiday program, which was a resounding success. Students dressed in their finest attire to perform their favorite holiday songs to an overwhelmingly enthusiastic and supportive audience.
Looking to the months ahead, fifth grade “Harvard” students are working on finalizing their short stories as they prepare for the final step in the process – publishing and printing. A copy of this year’s printed book, “Harvard Short Stories,” will proudly join the three others in the school library, all from prior fifth grade classes authored and illustrated by the students themselves.
Finally, students are excited for auditions and rehearsals to begin for Rose Drive’s upcoming production of Seussical Jr., which will be performed in June.
So much to look forward to as students continue to engage their imaginations and discover all they can achieve!
