With assistance from Doug Gould with “All About Food,” Glenview Elementary School scholars worked together to harvest the school garden. Students learned about the importance of community gardens, and how to pick and clean butter lettuce, beets, white radishes, carrots, and swiss chard.
District Chef Orlando Luevano made a special visit to Glenview at lunchtime to provide a tasty vegetable stir fry cooking demonstrating using vegetables that had been harvested.
Students enjoyed eating the healthy side dish with their lunch, and marveled at the display of vegetables harvested in the Glenview garden. They also had the opportunity to take a selection of these fresh veggies home to share with their families.
