There was fun to be had on Wednesday, Oct. 21, as El Dorado High School AVID students took a field trip to the University of California, Irvine. It was their first trip with students from all four grade levels. Students had the chance to peruse the student store, take a tour of the campus and eat like a college student.
AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other postsecondary opportunities, especially those traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
