Yorba Linda High students share their dreams in speech contest

On May 25, 14 Yorba Linda High School students shared an idealistic dream that they have for the future in 3-5 minute speeches.

Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the countless individuals throughout history that went to great lengths to make the future brighter than the present, the speech contest challenged YLHS participants to do the same.

Representatives from the Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary Club had the tough task of distinguishing 3 speakers among the 14.  The following three speakers received pledges from the Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary Club for college scholarships:
  • Alyson Hidalgo’s “Words” – 3rd Place $100
  • Angela Chuang’s “Dark Figures” – 2nd Place $150
  • Liam Quidore’s “Hope Will Never Be Silent” – 1st Place $200
Additionally, the audience members donated $323 to “Doctors Without Borders,” a nonprofit medical humanitarian organization that assists people worldwide delivering emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from health care.
