Lakeview identifies its new leaders for “Peer Mentor” group

Lakeview students for the 2018-19 school year.

During the week of October 8, many upper grade Lions at Lakeview Elementary School came out to interview for one of the school’s leadership groups in the hope of becoming a “Peer Mentor” for the 2018-19 school year. The program had the biggest turnout that it has ever had with over 40 applicants.

After much thought and consideration of the students who applied, Lakeview’s new Peer Mentors were chosen and notified the week of October 15.

Training quickly began on October 23 and 25 for the new Mentors. They participated in ice-breaker games, learned about their new leadership group, heard stories on kindness, and discussed modeling positive traits for their Mentees.

The students role played various scenarios that they might be involved in with their Mentees and learned of their new role as their Mentees’ confidant.

The students are all excited to be Lakeview’s new leaders on campus. You’ll be great, Lions!
