Yorba Linda High School (YLHS) senior Nathan Brown was sworn in as the new Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Student Representative to the Board of Education on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. His term will last throughout the first semester of the school year.
Nathan grew up in PYLUSD having attending Lakeview Elementary School before transitioning to Yorba Linda Middle School and now, YLHS.
For the 2019-2020 school year, Nathan will serve the Mustangs as ASB ambassador. In this elected role, he has a long list of important responsibilities including maintaining a school-wide fundraising calendar, fostering positive relationships with the school community, serving as a liaison between ASB and student groups, and much more.
In addition to ASB, Nathan’s senior year will also include advanced placement (AP) courses and other extra-curricular activities.
Following graduation and beginning in Fall 2020, Nathan hopes to attend a University of California school such as Santa Barbara or San Diego. He is also open to the idea of venturing out-of-state to Northern Arizona University of University of Colorado, Boulder.
The District is incredibly pleased that Nathan has agreed to serve as the Student Board Representative during his senior year at Yorba Linda. Welcome, Mustang!
Also at the July 9 meeting, the Board presented Sophia Oh (pictured below with the Board), the previous representative, with a plaque to commemorate her time serving as the PYLUSD Student Board Member. Sophia recently graduated with the Class of 2019 at Valencia High School. She will attend California State Polytechnic University, Pomona beginning Fall 2019.
