EHS sweeps visual Arts category in PYLUSD Reflections contest

Tenth grade student, Kayla McKenzie.

Traditionally, Esperanza High School (EHS) students have done very well in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s (PYLUSD) Reflections Art Contest, and this year was no exception.

In the Visual Arts category, the Aztecs took all three top spots with student Kayla McKenzie bringing home first place for her piece, “A Hero, The Sculptor, My Dad” (pictured above), Gavin Braun taking second place with his work, “From the Ashes” and Logan Griffin coming in third with his entry, “Paid Respects.”

In addition, Alvaro Solis received first place in the category of Special Artist with his work, “Art Saves the World,” and in Music Composition, Victoria Taberski earned second place with her entry, “Wondrous Eastwards-Stretching Sky.”

This year’s contest theme was Heroes Around Me.

“Thank you to Lynn Magnin for her ongoing leadership and guidance of our artists,” said Esperanza Principal Gina Aguilar.
