Sierra Vista Preppy K students hatch trout eggs in their classroom

This week at Sierra Vista Elementary School, Preppy K students in Miss Robins’ class met with their fourth grade big buddies to observe trout eggs hatch in their classroom. Last Wednesday, the trout eggs were delivered by the Fly Fishers Club of Orange County, and provided through the “Trout in the Classroom” program. Brandon Larsen, a sophomore at El Dorado High School, along with his family, set up the aquarium inside Miss Robins’ class. The eggs hatched on Monday, and children from both classes diagrammed the tank, complete with labels of living and non-living factors. The Preppy K children will continue to feed and watch after the trout until next month. Then, the children will take a field trip to Tri-City Park in Placentia where the Fly Fishers Club will assist them in releasing the trout into the lake.
