Constitution Day celebrations

In honor of Constitution Day on Thursday, Sept. 17, Ms. Meghan Meyers’ upper grade Special Day Class (SDC) at Mabel Paine Elementary School wore patriotic outfits.

Brookhaven Elementary School celebrated Constitution Day with patriotic flags in their garden.

Rose Drive Elementary School celebrated Constitution Day throughout all grade levels. Students wore red, white and blue in honor of our country’s flag. The primary grades sang patriotic songs, made patriotic hats, played games to learn about the Constitution and viewed a replica of the U.S. Constitution. The fun didn’t stop there, however, as the upper grades read, “We the People,” made their own California Constitution book, worked on a depth and complexity unit, completed a close read of the preamble, and created a preamble squash book in which students both rewrote the preamble in their own words and drew symbols to match the meaning of the Constitution.
