Esperanza ROTC cadets take to the air

On Saturday, March 12, 10 cadets from Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program at Esperanza High School participated in the Young Eagles flying program at Long Beach Airport. Young Eagles is sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). Since 1992, this program has introduced over two million young men and women to aviation.

The cadets completed a short ground school, and then took 30-minute flights over the greater Los Angeles area. Young Eagles provides a practical application to the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) concepts learned in the classroom.
