Swimmer at Parkview is a star in the pool and the classroom

Parkview School student Cathryn Salladin learned to swim as a baby, and has always loved water. She started swimming at age five, and has yet to get out of the water! With determination and practice, she met her goal and time standards, and participated in the Junior Olympic Games. From there, she achieved senior times, sectional times and future cuts. Recently, Cathryn achieved her National Open water cut for the 5k, and her first Junior National time. Her goal is to cut three more seconds from her mile time in order to qualify for a 10k this April in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Cathryn has swam all over California, and had the wonderful opportunity to train at the Olympic Training Center for 10 days. Last summer, she also had the opportunity to swim in Oregon for the “Futures.” This year, Cathryn’s swimming will take her to challenges in Florida, Texas and Canada, to name a few. She spends an average of 23 hours training in the water a week. She is extremely disciplined, in and out of the water.

On top of that, Cathryn has maintained good grades, and has taken college classes along with her high school class load. She is a wonderful example of a star athlete and scholar attending Parkview. Way to go Cathryn!
