Golden Elementary wraps up 2016 with fun, educational activities

Just before winter break, Golden Elementary School teachers and students celebrated the season with creativity, community building and learning.

Santa hires Golden elves
Fourth grade gifted and talented education (GATE) students dressed for elf success to interview for key positions on Santa’s team at the North Pole. To expedite the hiring of so many helpers at Christmastime, parents with the right “credentials” interviewed the elf candidates for openings, including “candy chef” and “toy maker.” Mrs. Hanna and Mrs. McDonald helped students learn to prepare letters of application, and secure stellar reference letters written by their parents. This project-based learning experience culminated in a fun day for everyone involved. Santa had a very qualified staff this year!

Kindergarten winter wonderland
Kindergarten students became magical reindeer to demonstrate how cultures around the world celebrate winter holidays. Students from Mrs. Dimopoulos’ and Mrs. Johnson’s classes performed songs from around the globe, including “I Have a Little Dreidel,” “Mele Kalikimaka” and “Feliz Navidad.” The amazingly cute reindeer delighted the audience, and got the holidays off to a wonderful start!
